Register365 announce new Apache platform

Uncategorized

Our new Apache cluster for Linux Hosting is now live! After a process of hard testing, through both alpha and beta stages, our new cluster has shown itself to be the robust and reliable platform we first imagined.

The Apache technology replaces our legacy platform, Zeus. In recent times, use of Apache HTTP Server has grown greatly and it is now used by over 60% of websites worldwide. We’ve also re-built our cluster using better hardware so our Apache HTTP Server installation is 4-5 times more powerful than our legacy Zeus platform.

In addition, with the new Apache cluster you can expect:

1.    Clustered, redundant, powerful and scalable infrastructure:
•    Fully clustered infrastructure, ensuring maximum uptime.
•    All sites run on all machines in cluster, behind multiple Load Balancers – no single point of failure.
•    Powerful multi-processor servers (min 16 cores each).

2.    Increased security:
•    A chroot environment ensures the privacy of your data.
•    Each website runs in isolation with its own identity, processes and environment.

3.    Mod_rewrite:
•    Allows user friendly short URLs.
•    Improves Search Engine Optimisation.

4.    Compatible:
•    At the click of a button you can change the version of PHP your site runs on between the latest 3 releases; 5.3, 5.4 and 5.5.
•    Supports scripting languages including: PHP, Ruby, Python and Perl.

5.    Fully integrated control panel:
•    Administer all aspects of your email and hosting in one place.
•    Preview and update your site without FTP.
•    Unlimited subdomains and aliases.
•    Create databases, database users, and manage permissions.

How do I upgrade to Apache if I’m an existing Linux Hosting customer?
1. Log into your Online Control Panel
2. Select the desired domain name
3. Select “Web Platform Upgrade” from the Left hand menu
4. Then select  “Apache”  and click on update
The update process does not require any further actions on your part – the update to your DNS settings should be instantaneous, but, depending on your ISP, it may take up to 48 hours.
